Baveno is a small town with 4888 inhabitants (2012) on the western shore of Lake Maggiore in the Italian province of Verbano-Cusio-Ossola (VB), Region Piedmont. The neighboring municipalities are Gravellona Toce, Stresa and Verbania. The village lies at an altitude of 205 m above sea level.
From the boat dock with an old Art Nouveau building various nautical lines connect Baveno with the Borromean Islands and other lakeside towns.
Baveno is an established resort and offers tourist accommodtion from the small holiday apartment to the Grand Hotel and numerous other tourist accommodation and infrastructure.
Sights worth seeing
Worth seeing is the publicly accessible Villa Fedora with its huge park and the church "SS Gervasio e Protasio" from the 18th century and a baptistery from the 11th century with a portico from the 16th century.
The stone from Baveno was used among other things for the construction of the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele in Milan and the Basilica of St. Paul in Rome. Worth a visit is also the Museum Pietro Rosa.
