Mergozzo

Mergozzo is a municipality with 2211 inhabitants (as of 2012) in the Province of Verbano-Cusio-Ossola (VB), Region Piedmont.

The village lies at an altitude of 196 meters above sea level in the Val d'Ossola.

Mergozzo lies next to Lake Mergozzo. Mergozzo is located not far from the Bay of Verbania on Lake Maggiore. Lake Orta is 10 kilometers away. The Toce river flows west past Mergozzo and opens in Verbania on Lake Maggiore. The village is situated on the railway line Domodossola-Milan.

The municipality Mergozzo consists of the districts (frazioni) Albo, Bracchio, Candoglia and Nibbio. Other settlements are Bettola, Campone, Lanca, Montorfano, Portaiolo and Prato Michelaccio.

The neighboring municipalities are Gravellona Toce, Ornavasso, Premosello-Chiovenda, San Bernardino Verbano and Verbania.
