Livo is a small town with about 200 inhabitants and is located on the northern part of Lake Como (Alto Lario) already on the border with Switzerland (municipality Cama - Graubünden).
So very harmonious and distinctive is its architecture that every two years a very successful "Living Nativity" is staged.
Those who have the curiosity to explore the narrow streets and the old well-preserved gray stone houses, will be fascinated with the discovery of this small jewel (arches, courtyards, doors, wood doors, frescoes).
Livo has a parish church in the village center, it is very charming - and should not to be missed because of the architecture and frescoes in the interior.
The old Church of San Giacomo Vecchia is from the 15th century. This church with adjoining cemetery is located about 1 km outside of town, surrounded by chestnut trees on a beautiful gravel road that leads to the valley of Livo - a fresh, bubbling brook, where there are beautiful pools to cool off in the summer and to relax or sunbathe on the stones smoothed over the years by the water.
For a walk or a mountain bike tour the road ends at Crotto Dangri where you can eat typical dishes or sausage and cheese products.
Every Wednesday morning in Livo there is small market with fresh produce. For daily needs, there is a mom and pop corner shop, and a little further on near a cool stream, is a pizzeria / trattoria with 2 dining rooms and outdoor areas.
Some bus lines connect Livo daily with Gravedona.
Livo is an ideal base for hiking, mountain biking and the spectacular Val di Bares (well known for Canyoning).
